Mon. Jan. 31, 2011

My card (and box) is for the challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges- ah, the vintage look.
I just love this! The rose I made is pretty tall, so I needed to make a box for the card!

My sentiment is from Rupa's "With this Ring" stamp set from Gina K's. The dp is Webster's Pages-the first time use for me, and I will be buying more. It's fabulous!

That's it for today, but hope to see you again soon!

Sun. Jan. 30, 2011 STVCSP10

Hope you are warm and toasty and will have time to play with ink and stamps today.

My card for today is for the color challenge on StampTV.  Here are the the colors.

Behind the rose I made, is an image from Tami's "Block Greetings" stamped with Memento on Red Hot  CS.

Thanks for stopping by!

Jan. 29, 2011 CSS Alumni Sketch Hop

I am so glad to see that you stopped by today, as the CSS Team has a sketch hop this time around.  Be sure to read the entire post- there is a nice surprise!
Our hop this time utilizes another sketch by Melissa Cash.  If you arrived here from JOY'S blog, you are in the right place.
If you'd like to start at the beginning, click HERE.

This is the sketch, that our dear team member, Melissa Cash created for us.

Ready for some exercise?  Let's HOP!

Make sure to leave a comment as you hop along because on Tuesday morning (February 1st), we will randomly choose one of the comments from all the blogs, and that commenter will get a Gina K. Design stamp set of their choice valued up to $24.95!

I really liked this sketch (Melissa is so talented!) so I made two cards for this hop.
I have flipped the sketch for both of my cards.

For the first one, I stamped part of the flowers from the new StampTV kit called "Sent with Love", on a die cut that was stamped with the block from the "Smile "  stamp set (one free with three). The sentiment is from that set, as well. The butterfly is from Gina's "Spring Mix" set.

My next card once again uses stamps from the Smile (one free with three) stamp set.  I used Memento markers to stamp the image and then colored in the trees with Copic markers. I added some pearls and some white ribbon and voila- it's complete.

Thank you for commenting and good luck trying to win the stamp set from Gina.  Now, you are going to head off to KAY'S blog and check out her fabulous work.   See you soon!

Fri. Jan. 28, 2011 More hands

I am having so much fun with Melanie's "Where the Heart is" stamp set.  Melanie was so sweet to give me a shout out last Thursday, on her blog. I have two cards to show you today.

For my 1st one, I cut the hands apart again, and decided to add this cute little bear from Melanie's "Jumping for Joy" set.  I gave him a flower from Theresa's "Purrr-fectly Delightful" set and a sentiment from Nina's "Fanciful Tags" set.

Fun, fun, fun!

My second card also uses those hands, but this time I added something to go along with an image from Nina's Nana's Needlework stamp set. I think it is pretty cute!

If you have Melanie's set, I can't wait to see what you come up with. Elfreida has already been working on it.  The link to her wonderful cards is on Melanie's blog.

Thank you for visiting!

Thurs. Jan. 27, 2011 Fancy Tag Border

I used kraft today- love this color! The image I chose is from Gina K's latest kit called "Sent with Love".  This image doesn't need much coloring, except for the heart.  Now, that's fun for a change! I die cut two different tags and cut them in half to make the border.  I cut the black and the red cs with Tim Holtz's "On the Edge" dies.  Ooh-la-la and voila-this card was finished.

Thank you for stopping by.

Wed. Jan. 26, 2011 CBug Spot & VSN challenges

Today's challenge at the Cuttlebug Spot was to to find inspiration for your next project in a magazine or catalog.  It can even be a newspaper ad, or online catalog.

I found this photo interesting, with colors that seemed so happy.
Here is the card I made that was inspired by the photo.  I used two of Melanie's stamp sets.  "Where the Heart is" and "Candles on your Cake".

I stamped the hands and colored them with Copic markers.  I decided to cut them apart so they could hold the plate.

My next card is one I made for a challenge for  VSN on SCS over last weekend. This particular challenge was to use kraft somewhere on this card to lift someone' spirits. I used the hot balloon image from Gina's Eclectic Summer set. On this card the tiny bit of kraft was the balloon basket.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Tues. Jan. 25, 2011 CP 99

I loved the sketch over at Card Patterns this week, and this is my entry. My focal image is from Melanie's "Where the Heart is" stamp set available at Gina K Designs.  I used Copic markers to color the image.  The flower is made from white cs and Tim Holtz's Tattered Florals die. The red cs was embossed with CB folders.

Thank you for visiting!

Mon. Jan. 24, 2011 STVSKSP10

Happy Monday!  Hope you all had a great weekend!

The card I want to share with you today is for Gina's sketch challenge on StampTV, STVSKSP10. My image is from Tami's Hopeful Hearts set. This is also for the VSN challenge on SCS.  I stamped the block and then paper pieced another heart into the center, and then another heart paper pieced into that one.

Thank you for stopping by.

VSN Challenge

I hopped on over to SCS yesterday and decided to pick out a challenge to do.  The inspiration was "Light up your Life"and we were to make a luminary.

I used a Tim Holtz A2 die with windows, and some turquoise cs.  I ran two pieces through the Vagabond, and then turn the CS around and ran it through again.  This way I die cut two windows on each piece of cs.  I then stamped the little star from Melanie's "Candles on your Cake" stamp set onto pieces of vellum and attached them to the inside of my luminary. After that I scored lines to create the box and glued the flaps together.

This was really fun to make and I plan on making a few more, but will decorate them a little more on the outside.  Maybe triangle to look like a roof, and hmm... ideas are freely flowing now.  You'll have to see what I come up with. OH, now I need to pick up some of those battery operated tea lights.
Thanks for stopping by!

Sat. Jan. 22, 2011 OLW 37

My card today is for the challenge over at One Layer Wednesday.  This time we were challenged to make a card with 2 sentiments.  Nothing except words, no flowers, buttons, etc.
This is what I made using two different stamps.  I first stamped {{thinking of you}}  in green and then masked it off before stamping my second stamp in black.

Thank you for checking my blog!

Fri. Jan. 21, 2011 STVCSP9 Color Challenge

Happy Friday everyone!
The temp was -9° here this morning.  I think it's a great day to stay in my studio!

Today we have another color challenge from Gina K.  I hope you play along. There will be a randomly chosen winner from all the entries, who will win a stamp set of their choice, valued at 24.95 or less.

Instead of a card, I chose to make a box to hold some cards, or maybe some candy.

The sentiment is from the new StampTV kit, called Sent with Love. I used the butterfly stamp from Gina's Take Flight set. I glittered the butterfly with transparent glitter (Art Institute) after I colored it with Copics.  I also used Copics to color the pearls  brown to match. The box bottom and the die cut trim around the box edge were made using Chocolate Brown PL card stock.

I made three rolled roses and sponged the edges with Vivid Aqua ink. The leaves were painted with paint dabbers. I also punched a few little branches and sponged them with the Vivid ink too!

Thank you for visiting!

Thurs. Jan. 20, 2011 Another Dino

Hi

I am back today with a Dino birthday card.  Gee, these dinosaurs are really cute!
I embossed a piece of kraft cs with CB folder- thought it was perfect bg for this guy. I stamped Dino and colored with Copics, then stamped, colored and cut out the bone and the palm tree.  I adhered the tree off the circle die cut, to add more dimension.  I attached the bone with pop dots, to raise it up a bit.

Wed. 1/19/2011 Design D.I.V.A.S. (FB) Blog Hop

Welcome to the Design D.I.V.A.S  Oldie but Goody Blog Hop.
If you arrived from Melissa Cash's blog, you are in the right place.

The idea for this hop is to create a card, scrapbook page or 3D item using any of our stamps/supplies that are at least 6 months old.  Although I have been stamping for only 5 years, I have some really old stamps ( an Ebay find) that haven't seen any ink in a really long time.

Here is my first card, using two Stampin' Up stamps.  The door is from 1995, and the little girl is from 1999.   The other two stamps I used are newer, but I haven't used them in quite a while either.
I scored the house siding with my Scor-Buddy and colored my images with Copic markers. The flower pot is from Nina Brackett's "Lord of the Season" stamp set. The sign with the sentiment is from Gina K's "Funny Farm" set.

Here is a slightly different angle to show the door.

This has been fun looking for through my stash for a stamp that hasn't been used in a while (omg, there are so many lonely stamps). I decided to make another card. The dp has been hanging around for a long time too!
I colored this with Copics and is an image from Asela Hopkins "Zoo Animals" stamp set. I stamped an additional mane and tail, then popped it up to add dimension.

Thank you very much for hopping along the the Design D.I.V.A.S. and for stopping by to see what I created!

Now it's time for you to head over to Angie Williams' blog, to see what she's going to share with you today! I bet it's fabulous!

Tues., Jan. 18, 2011 Dino

Good Morning!

I am having fun playing with Theresa's new stamp set called Dino-mite.  My DH likes these dinosaurs too.  Guess because they are so different from most of my feminine looking cards-LOL.

I think it is fun to create scenes with this dinosaur, so here is my first card with Dino.

I used the little sign from Theresa's Happy Camper set.  This sentiment fit perfectly, but I did shorten the sign post some and added the greenery back on to it.
Thanks for visiting!

Mon. Jan. 17, 2011 STVSKSP9

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  Good stamping time, since DH likes football (Go Bears) and I'd rather make cards.

My card was made using Gina's sketch for this week.

Here is my card:

The wreath is from Gina's Wreath of Wishes set and the sentiment is from the Elegant Flowers set.  They are available HERE. So glad you stopped by!

Jan. 15, 2011 CSS Alumni Color Spotlight Blog Hop

Welcome to the StampTV  Center Stage Alumni  1st blog hop of the New Year!

If you arrived from Jennie's blog, you are in the right place.  If you would like to start at the beginning, click HERE.

This time were are using Gina's Color Spotlight challenge.  Gina has posted two color combos, but here are the colors I used:

This is what I came up with, using Gina's "Autumn Splendor" stamp set.  I colored the image with Copics, and then added a red bow made with the Bow-easy.
The dp is Basic Grey matted with Gina K Pure Luxury CS.  The piece of Fresh Asparagus CS was CB's for added texture.

I really liked this color combo.  Now it's time for you to head over to Kay's blog to see the lovely creation she has for you to see today!
Thanks for hopping along with the CSS team!  We hope that you will play along and post your card at Gina's challenge link for a chance to win a stamp set of your choice, valued at 24.95 or less.

Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 "Where the Heart is"

I was so excited to receive Melanie's "Where the Heart is" stamp set in the mail.  This is the first card I made, which is going into my shipment to Operation Write Home.
I stamped the image and colored it with Copic markers, then paper pieced the turquoise cs to frame the hands.  I used a piece of wire, doubled and twisted, for the bracelet.
Thank you for stopping by!

Thurs. Jan 13, 2011 Another Hopeful Hearts card

Today- I have a card using pinks and grey along with a heart from Tami's set called "Hopeful Hearts". I thought this sentiment works with the Hope stamp too.
I will be back tomorrow with a card for Gina's color challenge.
Thanks for visiting.

Wed. Jan. 12, 2011 Hopeful Hearts

Hi and thank you to all of you that have been leaving comments!  They are wonderful!

Today's cards were made to showcase Tami Mayberry's new stamp set, called "Hopeful Hearts".  The first one uses a beautiful sentiment that I wanted to stand on its own, so I used a subtle patterned paper and a flower I made.

Next up is a shaker card, using some of the hearts in this set, along with the die shaped heart.
Glad you stopped by today!

Tues. 1-11-11 Stamp TV Challenge STVSKSP8

Good Morning!

Today I have the card I made for Gina's Sketch STVSKSP8.

I used the wreath from the "Floral Wreath" stamp set, as my focal image.  I cut a Nestie tag in half and attached to each side of the wreath image.

That's it for today!  Hope that you play along for a chance to win a stamp set from Gina K. valued at 24.95 or less.

Two challenge cards today

My first card today is for Michelle's challenge GKDJAN11MW over at Gina K's.
The challenge was to use something new to make a card.  I recently got a Tim Holtz Vagabond and then I bought the A2 Movers and Shapers card die with a window.
I cut the card using GKD Pure Luxury cs and then an overlay of Basic Grey dp. The trees outside of the window are from Theresa's "Life is Good" set, as is the sentiment.

My next card is for Tina's challenge GKDJAN11TG, using the ink resist technique.
I used white EP and then used paint dabbers over all.  Then I wiped the paint off of the lace border (from Nina's Vintage Borders set).  The furniture is from Nina Fine Furnishings set.
This card is also for a challenge over at JUGS (Just us girls) to decorate an envelope to match the card.

I am very happy you stopped by and am always thrilled to read your comments!

Wow- The Release Party at Gina K.'s Stamp TV was a lot of fun and there was so much eye candy.  Gina's Design Team did a marvelous job showcasing all the new stamp sets!

My card today is for Vicki's Color Challenge GKDJAN11VD. The colors chosen were kraft, turquoise and chocolate brown.  I used Tami's "Special Delivery" flowers for my image.  I colored them with Memento markers and then a touch of Stickles on the flower centers. The dp is Basic Grey.
Thanks for stopping by!

Jan. 7, 2011 Color Challenge STVCSP7

My card to show you today is for the color challenge at StampTV.  Here are the colors Gina chose for this week's challenge.

I chose to use Melanie's "Mugs and Kisses" mugs, which I paper pieced and popped up on a piece of Sweet Mango cs. The patterned dp is from my stash, which I placed on mats of Turquoise Sea and Red Hot red cs.
I am the coffee drinker and DH loves tea.

Thurs. Jan. 6, 2010 OLW 35

Woo- hoo!  Tonight is Gina K's Release Party at StampTV  7pm (Central Time).  Hope to see you there-the previews have been wonderful!

I decided to make a card for One Layer Wednesday's challenge this week- to use the color yellow.  CAS cards are getting a little easier for me, and always happy when the card comes together as I envisioned it-LOL.  Doesn't always happen, does it?
If you haven't tried a one layer card, you should give it a whirl.  You can always glue dp over the front and make a different card, but it is so much fun to try!

Thank you for checking in!

Wed. Jan. 5, 2010

Happy Hump Day!

The card I have to show you today had a lot of cutting, so it took me longer than I expected.  I am happy with the result though.

My focal image, which was colored with Copics is from Melanie's "Buds and Vases" set.  Her stamp sets are always so versatile. My bg was CB embossed with Tim Holtz's Brick Fade.  I thought I'd try it with this pastel pink and yellow paper and think it turned out cute, and not grunge-like at all. I made the little holder for the sentiment, trying to get it to look like the one that florists include with their arrangements. The oval die was painted with crackle paint and then sponge with distress ink, to replicate woodgrain.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 STVSKSP7

Here is the sketch that Gina gave us to play along with today.

I had a lot of fun making this card, using Melanie's "Mugs and Kisses" stamp set. Paper Piecing is fun and was perfect for this card.
I hope you will make time to play along with this sketch at StampTV, and you will have a chance to win a stamp set from Gina K. valued at 24.95 or less.

Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 CPS 199

Good morning all-
I saw this challenge at CPS (#199) and thought I'd make a thank you card for my stepson, using this sketch.

I used a Tim Holtz die to make the gears.  I painted them with paint dabbers, and some alochol inks, to age them.  The letters were also die cut, but I heat embossed them.  The dp is a piece of the Sunday newspaper that I distressed.
I really like the masculine look to this card, don't you?

Thanks for visiting!

Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011

I wanted to get another card in for the challenge at StampTV yesterday, so even though I posted it in my gallery at STV, I also wanted to post it her as well.

I used alcohol inks and baby wipes to make this bg, and then the plaid looked so vintage to me, that I knew right away which stamp set I would grab.  It is the "Sew Pretty" set by Asela Hopkins.

Thank you for popping in!  See you tomorrow.
